About Travel Conscious
About me
I’m Liina, the person behind Travel Conscious.
Originally from Mauritius, I’ve moved around a lot, and I’ve had the privilege of living in 7 countries across 5 continents.
I’ve visited 50+ countries, but I don’t have the goal of visiting every country in the world, nor do I have a bucket list. I like to travel to discover cultures, see new landscapes, and challenge biases.
My multicultural and mixed background has led to an interest in cultural travel, and I love sharing my travel insights and the cultural lessons I learn along the way. But I believe it’s also so important to discuss our impact as tourists, so this is also something you can expect from this blog: sustainable experiences, cultural etiquette, and itineraries with real insider tips.
All the content here is my own, based on personal experience and conversations with locals. I do sometimes use stock photos if my own photos are not up to par (I’m still working on my photography skills, currently not great at it).

Travel Conscious' mission
Travel Conscious exists in an effort to create a better impact through travel, allowing you to be the best traveller you can be.
I focus on all three aspects of sustainability:
- Environment (protecting nature and wildlife, reducing waste, finding eco-friendly activities)
- Economy (contributing to the local economy and businesses)
- Social (preserving the traditions and customs of the host country, social rights)
You might be thinking: how can my conscious travel efforts have an impact — after all, I am just one person.
But you’re not the only individual doing these trips, or engaging in that activity, or staying at a non-sustainable resort.
If we all make a sustainable choice during our trips, no matter how small, then together we can combat climate change, empower local communities, and feel great along the way.
